Lublin
University of Technology is offering 8 stipends for More Experienced
Researchers (more than 10 years of experience) to participate in the
international project. The duration of stay is 2 months: split into 4 stays-2
weeks each in the consecutive 4 years.
The project
comprises modeling of composite materials and their applications to civil,
mechanical and aircraft engineering. The aim is to link together nano-, micro-,
meso- and macro-scales to get perfect description of the composite behaviour
under different loadings, temperature and environmental conditions. It is
envisaged to develop modern approaches to engineering structures made of
composite and smart materials using non-linear theory for static and dynamic
loading, new concepts of control, optimisation of the structure and methods of
experimental investigations and identification of models.
With regard
to education it is planned to introduce
new courses to existing Ph.D. studies programme and to arrange advanced
courses for the LUT staff.
The
activities of invited More Experienced Researchers will comprise:
a) short
intensive courses for Ph.D. students and LUT staff
(each
person one topic):
Topic 1:
- description of the initial anisotropy
influence on the
macroscopic behaviour of composites
Topic 2:
- modelling and analytical, numerical
analysis of non-linear,
ideal and non-ideal parametric and
autoparametric systems
with applications to smart materials
Topic 3:
- applications of Finite Element Analysis to
static and
dynamic analysis of composites and
structures
Topic 4:
- modelling of laminate composites
Topic 5:
- applications of composites in civil
engineering
Topic 6:
- Finite Element Analysis of thin-walled
structures under
creep conditions
Topic 7:
- modelling and dynamic phenomena in
mechanical and
structural systems
Topic 8:
- dynamics of non-linear systems with
discontinuities
and dynamics of impact oscillators
b) joint
research with LUT staff comprising modelling of
composite and smart materials; dynamical
modelling of
structures
c)
consultative activities for Ph.D. theses

Modeling
and experimental testing with application to non-linear dynamics and control of
structures made of composite and smart materials.
The project
comprises modeling of composite materials and their applications to civil,
mechanical and aircraft engineering. The aim is to link together nano-, micro-,
meso- and macro-scales to get perfect description of the composite behaviour
under different loadings, temperature and environmental conditions. It is
envisaged to develop modern approaches to engineering structures made of
composite and smart materials using non-linear theory for static and dynamic
loading, new concepts of control, optimisation of the structure and methods of
experimental investigations and identification of models.
The invited
Experienced Researcher will carry joint research with LUT staff in the field of non-linear dynamics
(non-linear vibrations), control and optimisation of chosen mechanical structures
made of new composite materials which can be used in practical mechanical
application e.g. helicopters. The research is to cover also composite
intelligent structures having piezoelectric components, Shape Memory Alloys
(SMA) or Magnetic Shape Memory (MSM).
Objectives:
a)
Modelling
of dynamics of mechanical elements like rods, beams, plates made of composite
and intelligent materials and next analysis more complex structures having
additional nonlinear couplings and oscillating under different excitation types. Results are to be obtained
by analytical and numerical analysis.
b)
Implementation
of control techniques for investigated dynamical system
c)
Dissemination
of relevant results within the international research community by publications
in well recognised international journals and conferences
d)
Preparation
of the final report of the obtained results in research.

Candidate
must meet the eligibility criteria for Marie Curie Action:
a) at least 4 years of research experience
(full time equivalent) since gaining a
university degree giving him/her access to
doctoral studies or already in possession of a PhD,
b) have NOT been living in Poland for more than
12 months within the last 3 years
- Candidate should be educated in
the field of mechanical engineering. Experience in theory of nonlinear dynamics and
non-linear oscillations and knowledge of numerical analysis with application a
computer software e.g. MatLab or Mathematica is required. Additional experience
in research of intelligent structures, control theory, and knowledge of Finite
Element Method, is highly desired. Candidates with Ph.D. in mechanics will be
welcomed with preference.
- Candidate should have good skills
in English.

Detailes
The project
comprises modeling of composite materials and their applications to civil, mechanical
and aircraft engineering. The aim is to link together nano-, micro-, meso- and
macro-scales to get perfect description of the composite behaviour under
different loadings, temperature and environmental conditions. It is envisaged
to develop modern approaches to engineering structures made of composite and
smart materials using non-linear theory for static and dynamic loading, new
concepts of control, optimisation of the structure and methods of experimental
investigations and identification of models.
The invited
Experienced Researcher will carry joint research with LUT staff comprising:
a)
Experimental investigations of mechanical properties of composite materials
taking into account development of damage process under different external conditions
like constant or harmonic loads, impact loads, temperature influence;
estimation of internal damage growth inside structural elements, like beams and
plates subjected to mechanical loading.
b)
Theoretical investigation of the mechanics of structure based on experimental
results, identification of proposed models and their parameters.
The results
should be disseminated by publishing in well recognised international journals
and presenting at conferences.
Final
report of the obtained results in research should be prepared.

- Candidate should have experience

elements is required. Knowledge in the field of experimental investigations and
models identifications based on experimental results is additionally desired.
- Candidate should have good skills
in English.

The project
comprises modeling of composite materials and their applications to civil,
mechanical and aircraft engineering. The aim is to link together nano-, micro-,
meso- and macro-scales to get perfect description of the composite behaviour
under different loadings, temperature and environmental conditions. It is
envisaged to develop modern approaches to engineering structures made of
composite and smart materials using non-linear theory for static and dynamic
loading, new concepts of control, optimisation of the structure and methods of
experimental investigations and identification of models.
The invited
Experienced Researcher will carry out joint research with LUT staff comprising
multi-scale modeling of anisotropic behaviour of composite materials (including
internal structure) under combination of dynamic loading, environmental and
temperature effects. The modeling includes calculation of local stress
concentration in the material also defect nucleation at nano-, micro- scales
and defect growth.
The results
should be disseminated by publishing in well recognised international journals
and presenting at conferences.
Final
report of the obtained results in research should be prepared.
-Candidate must meet the eligibility criteria
for Marie Curie Action:
a) at least 4 years of research experience
(full time equivalent) since gaining a
university degree giving him/her access to
doctoral studies or already in possession of a PhD,
b) have NOT been living in Poland for more than
12 months within the last 3 years
- Candidate should have experience
in the modeling of composite materials applied in civil or mechanical or
aerospace
engineering. Knowledge of
numerical analysis with application of F.E.A. Codes, like ABAQUS or ALGOR
is
required. Ability of programming
in FORTRAN is desired.
- Candidate should have good skills
in English.
